LPG cylinder became cheaper by Rs 122, new rates came into effect from June 1.
The government has given some relief to LPG cylinders. The government has reduced the price of a 19-kg commercial cylinder by Rs 122. The new rates are effective from June 1. The price of a 14.2 kg domestic cylinder has not changed. Earlier on May 1, the price was also reduced by Rs 45.50.
The price of a domestic gas cylinder has gone up by Rs 215 since December. The price of a non-subsidized gas cylinder in Delhi was Rs 594 in November. It had risen to Rs 644 on December 1. It was priced at Rs 694 on December 15 with an increase of Rs 50. On February 4, the price rose by Rs 25 to Rs 719 per cylinder.
Then on February 15, it was again increased by Rs 50 per cylinder. On February 25, the price was hiked by Rs 25 per cylinder. On March 1, the price of a cylinder rose by Rs 25 to Rs 819. It was then reduced by Rs 10 on April 1. Thus, the price of a domestic gas cylinder has been increased by Rs 215 since December.

The price of a gas cylinder has doubled in the last seven years. The price of a domestic gas cylinder (14.2 kg) has doubled in the last seven years to Rs 809 per cylinder. On March 1, 2014, the price of a 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinder was Rs 410.5, which is now Rs 809. In Ahmedabad, the price of a non-subsidized LPG cylinder is Rs 816. If we talk about petrol, petrol was Rs 70 per liter seven years ago, which has now crossed Rs 100 per liter.
